Must be true then eh, he confessed in a 'private hearing' at Guantanamo Bay prison camp.source:
The alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks has confessed to his role in them, and 30 other terror plots around the world, the Pentagon says.
Amazing.
It's certainly news that the Pentagon has put out something like this, but that is about the only thing that we can know with any certainty that is true.
Don't get me wrong, this Khalid Sheikh Mohammed chap might well be guilty as hell, but come on, a transcript from a private hearing! How would the BBC report say, a story put out by ETA or the IRA of old, or any other group/govnt it didn't agree with?
Why has the BBc reported that story in the way that it has? Why hasn't it said something like
"The US Military, when asked to comment on whether such a story about a privately held meeting in a Military prison, should be relied upon as objective truth, failed to comment"
Or how bout
"The US Military, when asked to comment on whether such a story about a privately held meeting in a Military prison, should be relied upon as objective truth, responded with......we take the health and welfare of people under our care very seriously indeed, at no time was Mr Mohammed at any point put under any duress etc blah blah blah"
Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch, said there was no way of knowing whether the confession was the result of torture.
Amazing.
